Abstract

Materials document Alexander Wetmore's continued investigations into the nature and origin of duck mortality in Utah (1916), while in the employ of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Bureau of Biological Survey. The notebook portion covers August 19 - October 26, 1916. Includes observations of individual birds over a series of days, bird lists and counts indicating sex. Appears to include specimen numbers. Some entries are made several times a day, with the time listed. The field book covers May 8 - August 14, 1916, in Kansas and Utah. Includes bird lists with common names, descriptions of observation sites, bird counts, and observations of individual birds. Some entries record observations occurring throughout the day, with time recorded. Also includes and expense lists and meeting details (with attendees named) discussing sites of sick birds and possible causes.
