Abstract

This is 2 of 3 folders documenting M. Moynihan's observations of gulls, 1952-1953. Pages are numbered per entry. Entries are dated, though don't always include year; and detail behavior, appearance, and calls of individual, pairs, and groups of gulls. Observations includes sex, time of day, copulation attempts, interactions with other birds, weather, observed aggression, flight, feeding, and panics. Loose notes include counts of unidentified sort, possibly relating to bird calls. Notebook 1 covers March 22-25; notebook 2 March 26-27; notebook 3 April 1 - 3; notebook 4 April 4-6; notebook 5 April 9-13; loose sheets May 1 - 8; notebook 6 May 11-14, 1952; loose notes from February and April 1952; and Loose notes for August 14. Includes sketches of birds, augmenting text. Locations are not stipulated.
