Abstract

The field notes of M. Moynihan document his behavioral observations of mixed species flocks of birds (gregarious behavior), in Cerro Punta and Quito, 1960-1962. Pages are numbered. Dated entries are headed with location. Includes description of location, time of day, identifies groups (by number and then includes list of birds in group by common name), observations of other animals in environment (squirrels), and interactions between bird groups. Sometimes include bird counts by type and sometimes specifies sex. Includes notes of possible cases of social mimicry and a list of citations. Locations include Nono near Quito, Ecuador; Pichincha, Ecuador; and Cerro Punta, Panama.
