He details the trip from New York via Nantucket to the expedition sites, discusses changes in terrain from previous years' explorations, locations where they collected, weather and sea conditions on way to chosen locations, and types of marine life observed. Locations include the vicinity of Détroit de Northumberland, Hakluyt, and Smith Sound.
