Abstract

The correspondence documents Waldo Schmitt's work during the Hancock Pacific-Galapagos Expeditions, 1933-1935. Includes official correspondence; discussion of specimen transport; dated weights and measurements of live tortoises collected; staffing for the trip; ongoing issues in the Natural History departments; Civil Works Administration workers; catalogues and processing of specimens; and expectations for future expedition efforts in the same area. Correspondents include Herbert S. Bryant, Lucile McCain, W. Charles Swett, William Randolph Taylor, Alexander Wetmore, and Fred C. Ziesenhenne.
