Potential Problem Areas
- Delegation of Authority
- Defining collecting scope; failure to link museum mission to collecting
- Too vague, too much room for interpretation
- Failure to resolve the "thorny" issues
- Outlining evaluation criteria adequately (e.g. acquisition, deaccession, loan, access)
- Lack of museum board, management and broad staff involvement
- Written in a vacuum, without attention to resources (staff and money)
- Failure to implement through a collections management procedure manual.
