Biographical History

Strachen Jones was an assistant to James Lockhart, who was in charge of Fort Yukon from 1860 to 1863 and then Fort Resolution before moving to the Pacific. Jones and Lockhart, recruited by Kennicott, collected ornithological specimens that were later sent to the Smithsonian.
