Biographical History

Louis Mearns was born on November 5, 1886, in Fort Verde, Arizona. He was the son of Edgar A. Mearns. Louis began collecting natural history specimens with his father at the age of four. He continued to collect with his father into adulthood. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 1909. Louis would later work for the Dudley Southern Observatory in Argentina, and the Baltimore Sewage Company. He published several articles relating to ornithology of Rhode Island, 1897 – 1903. In 1912, He died at the age of 26 from Diptheria.
