Exciting Announcement: New Blog and Website

New colors for redesigned website & blog launching 9/12/2011.

As the title of this blog post suggests, change is afoot at the Smithsonian Institution Archives. We are very excited to announce that as of next week, on Monday, September 12th, the Archives’ website, as well as The Bigger Picture blog, will have a new look and feel.

We’ve been eager for some time now to redesign the website to give our visitors easier access to our collections, stories, and tips. In addition to better access and overall design, the site will also have some great new resources that we’ll announce next week.

The Bigger Picture blog will retain much of its current look and feel (check out the sneak peek screenshot above), but it will be integrated into our main website (yay! no more outside URL)—so, starting on Monday, you'll be able to find the blog at: siarchives.si.edu/blog (don't worry, this URL will also redirect...). Over the next few months, we’ll also be adding some new blog features that will give you a unique behind-the-scenes view into what we do at the Archives. Additionally, you’ll be able to view profiles for our blog authors, and you’ll be able to browse posts by author—something we’ve wanted to do for a long time.

Finally, after launch we’ll be eager to hear from you, our readers, about what you think of the new site design—more on that soon. Thank you all for your continued support and readership, and we look forward to sharing the new reveal with you in just a few days!
