Contributing to THE BIGGER PICTURE from its inception until 2012, I helped edit and run our blog, and strategized and managed our outreach and social media at the Archives.
Favorite spot in DC to recommend to visitors
Two of my favorite spots in DC are gardens. First, the Smithsonian’s Enid A. Haupt Garden, right behind the Castle—it’s a delightful place to cool off in the summer or sit and read in during the cooler months. Also, the US Botanical Garden, which is the most heavenly, warm, and humid place in the winter when everything else is dead, and has nice picnic tables to eat at during the rest of the year.
Collection Favorite
The Archives’ correspondence concerning the St. Augustine Monster, or globster. I mean, can you say “globster” without giggling? I didn’t think so. It’s a great story that brings back my own childhood daydreams about sea monsters.
