A Mashup courtesy of Ola Wiberg (Triple Sheep, flickr.com/photos/powi/3231549466/) and Marco A. Garcia (Neuvo Kindle, flickr.com/photos/la1003logs/3269355166/), Creative Commons: Attribution 2.0.

  • Huh? The size of your e-reader is based on the size of sheep (apparently, a Kindle = 1 sheepskin folded over 3 times) [via neatorama].
  • An incredible Flickr find straight from someone's family archives: read a 1938 rejection letter to a woman who submitted artwork to Walt Disney’s art department: “Women do not do any of the creative work in connection with preparing the cartoons for the screen . . .”
  • A museum of rescued letters [via swissmiss].
  • Cool! Obscure full-length movie classics at the Internet Archives, including the wonderfully smarmy-looking Peter Lorre in the film noir Quicksand (which I had never heard of . . .).
  • The Guggenheim has announced its short list of finalists for their YouTube Play competition, in which members of the public could submit their own video artworks for consideration.
  • The Smithsonian is the land of acronyms (19 museums, a zoo, and various research centers, all with their own letter combos), and so I enjoyed this piece on the rise of the acronym over at Intelligent Life.
  • Touching: a 6 year old’s journal from a whaling vessel.
  • Wow! A peek into The Concise Dictionary of Dress, an exhibition located in and inspired by the V&A’s museum storage rooms:
